So here are a few things that are inspiring me today:
The 2010 Emmy Nominees for Best Title Sequence listed on Motionographer.com. There are some really cool sequences, my favorite is “The Human Target”. Great T.V. show and great opening sequence…
And of course my good friend Adam over at: p#mce_temp_url# is always doing amazing AE work…

Story 2010….

So I booked my ticket to Story Conference in Chicago this morning. I am really pumped about it. I haven’t been to a good conference in a few years and am excited to catch up with some friends and hopefully meet a bunch of new people too! If you are going to Story, let me know and I think we should get together or have a meet up. There are probably a few meet-ups happening so maybe we can join with some other creatives. Last week I worked on this bumper. Overall I am happy with the outcome. I wish that I would have had a few more hours to tweek the ins and outs of a section or two, but am happy with how it flowed. The comp ended up being 6kx6k and was just a dog on my system.

Hey all,
Just a quick post but, a group from TheMET went to Uganda to do some missions work and just happened to stumble upon a great kid you might remember from this post, and this post. Well they ran into said kid, and my oh my what a few months have done (8 months to be exact) for him. All smiles and saying things in English. If you still want to give, just hope on over to CalltoAfrica.org and send some lovin’ his way. It would be great to be a blessing to him over the next few years…

So it’s Friday, you are staring at your computer monitor wondering what you could be doing this weekend. Well I would suggest going to Buffalo Wild Wings on Saturday to watch the US beat England in a great football match! FYI, if you go there and buy a dozen wings you get 6 free! So now on the goods:
A really cool stop motion piece using some Play mobile toys that I had as a child, great concept, love the camera work. This piece makes me want to see my camera even more now to get something that can give me the flexibility to shoot stop motion.
I want to try refine my skills in two areas this next year: better my DP skills and do some sweet motion tracking. What tools are you using to do motion tracking? I have been looking at pfhoe.com

Inspiration Tuesday…

Yeah…yeah…yeah, I know it’s been to long since something has appeared here, mostly because of scheduling but a lot to do with my laziness to get back into blogging after moving to Texas. Here are a few things that have recently blown me out of the water:
My friend Adam, over at progressisbeautiful.net is always doing some amazing work. I really appreciate his sense of composition and all of his mad skills with mograph make for a mad man when it comes to creating. His pieces on Zac Smith were so moving that I had to put them up again.
Bjorn Amundsen works with Nuru International on a lot of their pieces. This is a great kinetic mograph piece he did. It gives you the look and feel of something raw, but evokes a deep seated emotional connection with the audience.

Here is the latest thing that I have been working on:
We decided not to go super high tech with the animation and instead choose the analog route, we did a single fish line pinned into their mouths, glue sticked googly eyes on the outside. We shot this on the HVX with a 50mm 1.4F Nikon lense. using a Letus adapter. We then did our treatment in AE and did a moving mask and some wire removal. For this video I spent 23hrs of keyframing and put in close to 3600 individual keyframes. Lots of work and I wish I had been able to spend another 10 hours on keyframing but alas it was not to be. We will be doing one of these each week….
Thursday Morning Inspiration…

So I need to get back to being inspired, so I took a few minutes this morning to look around. Here is what has inspired me: three pieces done on DSL’s (Canon 5D MkII):
Life in Haiti-Canon 5D MKII & Glidetrack from Leclerc Brothers Motion Pictures on Vimeo.
This is a piece by a really good friend of mine Adam Kring works for an amazing church called NewSpring.
The Story of Zac Smith from NewSpring Media on Vimeo.
And my latest side work. This was shot by me on the Canon 7D with a mixture of lenses. It was edited by Andrew Schuurmann and was the opener for the newest Willow Creek Association Conference: The Green Room.
Green Room Opener from Andrew Schuurmann on Vimeo.
I hope something inside these three videos inspires you to shoot a new way, or maybe look at every day objects in a different angle!
Your creative space…

Let’s see a link to your creative spaces, I want to see what inspires you to create, write, publish, motivate or just push you to be better at what you do. Some of us have painted our walls, put in comfy chairs, or just kept things the same and go somewhere besides work to be creative. Well, here is my space:

I am currently story-boarding the Easter Series opener and following weeks videos. Hoping to accomplish five videos on storyboard before 3:30pm today when my family arrives in town. Wish me luck!
